In my work I explore the function of recording devices in films, performances and photographic works. By playing with camera’s, print and edit techniques I attempt to challenge the idea of capturing and documenting something. In my work I investigate the visual presence of the colonial past in the Netherlands and Indonesia, the role of photography in (un)familiar relationships and how film can relate to our experience of “the real”.
Currently I’m working from my studio in Amsterdam with the support of the Mondriaan fund’s “werkbijdrage jong talent”. In 2016 I graduated from the Rietveld Academy and won the “Fine Arts prize” of the Fine Arts departement. Since graduation I have worked as artist in residence in Germany, Indonesia and Japan and exhibited in several shows ao at Lumen Travo, Nieuw Dakota and the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam.
Coming time I will be working as artist in residence at the AGALAB in Amsterdam on a new research with silkscreen printing and the effect visual windows can have on our brain.
